What Is Your Writing Ritual?

What is your writing ritual? Before you pick up your pen each day, what do you do to motivate yourself to get started? Do you have a ritual for when you finish, or maybe a reward (an ice cream sundae, a massage, a round of golf)?
What about your challenges? Don’t be daunted by them – use them as inspiration! Take your project in small steps – don’t focus on the finished project (novel, memoir, etc.), but focus on the next line, next page, next chapter. Celebrate each accomplishment!
Write what you can, when you can. Stay positive and congratulate yourself. You are writing, some, a lot, when you can. Bravo!
Much care,
Anne
P.S. Please share your rituals with me in the comments here. I’d love to know what they are!

Just getting up in the morning, crawling out of my sleeping nest, is all the inspiration I need. I get to write! Yay! But I feed my cat first because she's cute and she plays a part in getting me out of bed. Then I grab a cup of coffee and my notebook and pen. And just start in. Sometimes it leads to something, sometimes not. But I noodle around writing 2-3 pages in about half an hour and I can start the day after that. Well, that is the start to my day. Trying to write later in the day, too, but it doesn't carry nearly the energy that the early stuff does.
